The menu is a carefully curated journey through traditional dishes, each crafted with fresh ingredients and aromatic herbs. Start your meal with starters like the Soup of the Day, comforting and brimming with garden-fresh vegetables, or the creamy, herb-infused Maastokhiar—a refreshing yogurt blend with cucumber that cleanses the palate beautifully. Fans of smoky, rich flavors will be drawn to the warm Mirza Ghasemi, where grilled aubergines meet eggs and tomatoes in a harmonious mix.
The true stars at Choupan, however, are undoubtedly the grilled specialties. The Koubideh, featuring two skewers of succulent minced lamb, offers a perfectly spiced bite that melts tenderly in the mouth. For those craving a touch of luxury, the Baarg lamb fillet skewer is a tender, juicy delight that leaves a lasting impression. Chicken lovers are spoilt for choice, whether opting for the boneless Joojeh skewers or the more traditional on-the-bone version, each served with fragrant rice or freshly baked naan.
Not to be missed is the Mix Kebab platter—a generous assortment that combines the best of their kebabs alongside luscious lamb chops, creating a feast of smoky, savory sensations. Pair these dishes with the fragrant Qabli Pilau or the subtly textured Afghani Pulao Rice, each grain perfectly infused with saffron and spices that elevate the meal to a culinary celebration.

We have been coming regularly since the start of 2024 and the food and service has been excellent every time. The manager is friendly and always makes good recommendations on dishes and portions to suit the size of the group. The food is fresh and served quickly.

This restauranr is quite small, butbustling with diners, to avoid disappointment, if possible, I'd recommend booking a table the evening before. Absolutely superb restaurant and staff and the food was delicious, the lamb shank and rice were cooked to perfection, the salad was crisp and fresh. All six of us give a thumbs up and recommend Choupan.
I’ve been coming to Choupan Restaurant for over 15 years, and the food has always been consistently fresh and delicious. Fash and his dad are wonderful people—friendly, welcoming, and they always make you feel at home. A true gem that I’ll keep coming back to!
Last night’s dinner was a total surprise — in the best way. The food blew me away with its rich flavors, generous portions, and comforting presentation. The Mix Platter was an absolute standout — a true killer combo, especially when paired with the Soup of the Day, which added a warm, savory touch to the meal. The vibe felt distinctly Turkish. The menu is refreshingly simple,.Quality over quantity — and they nailed both. Highly recommend for anyone craving something hearty, flavorful, and fuss-free.
All the food is very delicious and tasty. We like kubaidah and Naan and qabli Palau. The meat is very tender juicy and delicious. The atmosphere is cool here. It's not a big restaurant so it's always full or even fully booked. You need to book it in advance to secure the table here.
Very ambient and lovely traditional Persian decor, also the best Qabli Pilauow I’ve tried in Manchester. All dishes were made with love and received a friendly service. Can’t wait to try more dishes although get’s quite busy and there’s a little wait..but it’s definitely worth it.
Choupan is honestly my favourite restaurant — it’s our go-to spot whenever I’m with my dad and brother. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the way they’ve styled the space is so traditional, reflecting Persian and Afghan culture beautifully. The touches on the walls feel really authentic and thoughtful, like they’ve brought a piece of home into the restaurant. The staff are incredibly kind, always friendly, chatty, and helpful — it just makes the whole experience feel even more personal. And the food? Absolutely amazing. I always get the mantu and it’s honestly one of the best dishes I’ve ever had. The seating works really well for smaller groups of two to four, though I do wish the place was a bit bigger, because it definitely deserves a larger space. Still, everything is honestly top-tier — I’ve got no real complaints at all.
